  • But in Ray Charles, modern music has someone it can proudly label one of culture's true geniuses. This 2LP set encompasses some of Ray Charles' most popular, influential and seminal recordings. Listen to these recordings by one of music's true greats, from his formative, pre-Atlantic days to his later genre-defying work, and discover why he was /5().
  • The tracks that have been added with Ray Charles alone are not his best, but the album he did with Betty Carter is a long-time favorite of mine. They are magnificent together, and the songs they do are perfect for them. I don't know why this album is hard (impossible?) to find in electronic format, but it's a must-have for me/5(29).
  • This edition presents the long unavailable LP The Genius Hits the Road (ABCS ), originally released in by the ABC-Paramount label. The Genius Hits the Road is a concept album of sorts with a dozen songs devoted to various parts of the U.S., and was a transitional record built upon the success of the landmark album The Genius of Ray Charles (Atlantic, )/5(30).
  • RAY CHARLES Dedicated To You (60s UK WRC mono issue of the track vinyl LP - taking a break from jazz, R&B and soul, this wonderful album takes the listener to a different world, one full of women, as Charles sings of Nancy, Marie, Dian e and more! Superb front laminated flipback swirling picture sleeve variant.

  • Ray Sings, Basie Swings, huh?Hmm, well, yes and no. You see, the story goes something like this. In , Concord Records exec John Burk, who produced Ray Charles' superb late-career, Grammy-winning Genius Loves Company, found a reel of tape simply labeled "Ray/Basie."Upon further analysis, it was determined that the recording featured Ray Charles backed by his own band -- Count .
  • It won't be long before I'll become a puppet [Chorus:] It's been so long, Since I last have seen my son Lost to this monster To the man behind the slaughter Since you've been gone I've been singing this stupid song So I could ponder The sanity of your mother [Verse 2:] I wish I lived in the present With the gift of my past mistakes.
